Kernos Annual General Meeting

Kernos held our AGM on 16th January 2009.

Key points that were made:

  • Numbers of referrals continue to increase each year and now total 720 since opening in 2003.
  • 171 referrals were received in 2008.
  • The number of young people referred to us grew from 13 in 2004 to 66 in 2008.
  • Despite prioritising these adolescents we currently have 18 young people on our waiting list.
  • Extra funding for adolescents is being urgently sort, and with funding from the Suffolk Foundation due in soon, we hope to be able to offer all adolescent referrals a shorter waiting time in the coming months.
  • 82% of our clients live in or around Sudbury.
  • In 2008 38% of clients needed help with funding compared to 20% in 2007.
  • The average number of sessions per client has increased from 6.2 in 2005 to 12.3 in 2008.
  • Kernos hosted two 6-week training courses in 2008 with funding from Suffolk Single Gateway.  Nine local residents attended the courses on “Taking Charge of your Life” and expressed a rise in confidence as a result.
